Hey! My name is Grant Hubbard. I'm a sophomore at NDSU majoring in journalism and minoring in English writing. This is my first year as part of the editing team for the Northern Eclecta journal. My background is well-rounded in broadcast journalism and writing as I currently work as the sports editor for the student newspaper on campus, “The Spectrum.” I also currently work for WDAY as a play-by-play broadcaster for high school sports, and I work with my high school alma mater, Fargo Davies, as their play-by-play announcer for their boys' basketball games. My favorite legend is the story of Sisyphus. The Greek myth of the king who was condemned to push a large boulder up a hill, only for the large stone to roll back down the hill each time he got close for eternity. This story resonates with me because it tells a story that I lived through when my mother fought a 4.5-year cancer battle. Her fight and a quote from former NC State Men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano have lived with me ever since: “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up!”
