This will be one of the last blog posts written by the staff of 2025. We figured we'd round it out by adding the epilogue that was written for this past journal. Stay tuned for 2026!
This year, many of our process changes were not as visible as a name change in the final journal but had no less of an impact. We began by setting up a timeline that included deadlines for each aspect of the journal, giving teams an idea of how much work they would need to put in each week. The submissions process was then streamlined. We used a different submission program this year, opting for Submittable over Google Forms. This allowed us to accept all types of submissions from anyone, such as videos, artworks, and written pieces. Collaborating on a schedule and then sticking to it helped all of us develop our time management skills and become less overwhelmed with the amount of effort we put into the journal. We also factored in time for tabling and selling merchandise, such as stickers, mystery books, pins, and charm bracelets. This face-to-face promotion allowed more people to hear about and submit to Northern Eclecta this year. These internal changes led to a better final journal and gave the team more opportunities to learn about the process without growing overwhelmed. Thank you and enjoy Volume 19 Legends of NDSU’s Northern Eclecta Art and Literary Journal.
