Hey everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Schmidt and I’m a graphic design major at NDSU. This is my first time taking the Literary Publications class, and so far, I’ve had a lot of fun with it! I’m part of the design team where we design different things parts of the journal. We’ve designed posters to put up around campus and will design the layout for the journal. I enjoy using my major in an elective class and putting together work for my portfolio. This class provides real-world experience and is a great opportunity to work with classmates as a team to produce a journal. I appreciate that the class is offered at NDSU and gives the students a chance to create and manage the Art and Literary Journal!
I’m most excited for what the journal will look like when it’s finished. I’ve only got to see a few submissions so far, but I don’t get to see the rest until the journal is published. I love the theme we picked, Wonderstruck, and I think it’s a positive mindset that allows us all to stop and enjoy the little moments and things. The world around us can be bleak at times and I hope that people can find joy in our journal through the submissions. I appreciate the opportunity to be involved in this process, and I can’t wait to see how it comes together!
I highly recommend everyone to submit to the Northern Eclecta. Whether you think of yourself as an artist or not, if you make cool art or write, if you’re a student or not, or if you just have some amazing moments that you’d like to share with others, please consider submitting. We’re thankful we get to share this experience with you and hope you also submit in the future!
