A Reflection of the Year

Hello again! This is Editing Team Leader 2023, Monika. The end of the semester is nigh and things are wrapping up. This year was pretty fun. A lot of things have changed since last year. Kylen, our Editor in Chief, has been great about keeping the class on track and delegating where it makes sense to.

For the editing team, we had so many people! The turn around for edits was pretty quick this year, but with so many people we were able to make four small groups which helped us get through everything in only a week. My small group in particular had the longer pieces, but once we got started we sped through everything super fast. From there we handed the finalized pieces off to the design team who formatted them into the journal. It’s thanks to them that the finished journal looks as good as it does. The Social Media and Design team did so much this year. I’ve got to give them props.

Last year was the first year we designed the journal ourselves, so this year we still have limited experience. Despite this, we made it work. For Social Media we’ve made so much headway in spreading the word, getting nearly as many submissions as last year, which was a record for us. Overall, we’ve made things so much more efficient. There’s still a ways to go before we get everything solidified, but for now we’re making progress in the right direction.
