Literary Publications: Create a Journal, Make Friends, and Gain Experience

Hello! My name is Elle Sorenson, and I am on this year’s social media and promotions team for Northern Eclecta. Basically, I spend a lot of time on our Tik Tok and Instagram accounts, so if you see us on your #FYP, you are obligated to give the post a like and comment now that you know my name. ;) I know you are all busy working on getting your submissions in (Today, March 10th, is the last day to submit BTW!), but I wanted to come on here and share my experience so far in this class as well as encourage you to consider taking this class.

To be honest, I took this class because my advisor told me to, I had no idea what to expect. I’m not sure I even knew what a literary journal was. No part of me thought I would love this class as much as I do. I did not expect this class to be so broad. I mean, in what other classes are your assignments going to be making Tik Toks, promoting a journal, and reading submitted work together in class?

Though it is a huge part, this class is not just about the journal for me. I’ve made friends, I have developed a love for reading and writing, learned things I never would have in any other course, and I have gained confidence in my promoting experience. Not only does this class fly by every time we meet, but it is one I look forward to each week.

If you are looking for a course that creates something beautiful as well as helps you make new friendships, this class is for you. Taking this class has been one of the best decisions I have made at NDSU. Take Literary Publications, you will not regret it! (and also submit some more work before submissions close tonight, you won’t regret that either!)
